Volunteering at the Library
Q: I am very interested in doing some volunteering in one of the university libraries. Are there any positions available?
Q: I am very interested in doing some volunteering in one of the university libraries. Are there any positions available?
Q: To whom it may concern. The weather inside the library is really inconvenient. I think that the air condition system does not work appropriatelly. Also, you can see some individuals are having their meals inside the library and in this really inconvenient condition some spicific smells can distract you easilly.
Q: If I borrowed books from the Burnaby Campus, can I return them to the Surrey Campus? Thank you!
A: Yes you can return books to any campus so long as they are not Reserves. Only Reserve books need to be returned to the campus library from which they were borrowed.
take care

Q: People need to be reminded that the 6th floor of Bennett is SILENT. It's extremely irritating when people are crowded around one cubicle chatting away. If you want to chat, go somewhere else. I shouldn't have to consider putting in ear plugs on the silent floor.
A: We are sorry to hear that you were being disturbed by talking on the 6th floor of the library. In the future if this happens again please feel free to come to the circulation counter on the 3rd floor. A staff member will go to the floor and remind patrons that this is a silent study area.
Q: How do I replace a lost book?
A: If you lose a SFU book you do have the option to find a replacement copy and give it to the library to replace the lost book. Please note the replacement copy must be in good condition and be the same edition as the lost book. You will be charged an additional $20 processing fee to cover the cost of cataloguing and labeling the book so it can be added to the library collection.
Q: Is it possible for an SFU student to hold a part-time job at the library?
Thank you for your time!
Which library? Bennett (SFU Burnaby Mountain)
A: Information about job opportunities in the SFU Library is at Librarian and other employment opportunities at the SFU Library.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
I am an undergraduate student at the Burnaby SFU campus and I am wondering if it is possible to get a job at the Bennett library? I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but I was unable to find another place to do so. Any advice would be appreciated.
Q. I'm surprised there is no propaganda anywhere about the evils of writing in library books. I actually watched a fellow student mark up a library book with a highlighter pen, sitting in class just a few metres from the professor and in full view of other people who might want to read that book some day. Am I the only person who finds it unbelievably annoying to try to read through pages and pages of underlining, highlighting, and moronic annotations? There are lots of antisocial behaviours that in spite of their private nature are publicly censured.
Q. With these events always occurring outside the library they always blast the music way too loud that it reaches the 5th floor where people are trying to concentrate in a quiet environment its so bad that the walls literally vibrate please do something about this they should at least be able to respect that a library is right beside their speakers blasting this music and there is no need to have this music this loud please do something about this.
