Feedback on Lynda.com

Published by Dipa Barua
Q: I would just like to let the library and SFU in general know how much I appreciate having access to Lynda.com. It's great to be able to access all those tutorials when and as I have time for them and to have them broken down into manageable bits. This really helps me maintain and advance my marketable skills while I'm studying - and brushing up on software (from Photoshop to Excel) helps me present and carry out my academic work more effectively too. I really hope SFU maintains this service for students.

Library Website Search Suggestions

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: I'd like to encourage the library to re-design its web site and specifically its search page. I have no idea what sort of researcher the current page is designed for, but it is certainly not me. I generally go to the library site because I have some specific source in mind and am trying to find it or, in the case of electronic journals, gain access to it, but the current site seems to be trying to be a mini-google but where the algorithm that runs it bears only the most tangential relation to the request.

Library Proxy Issue

Published by Dipa Barua
Q: I believe SFU Library is experiencing a proxy issue (site may be too busy?). It's been like this most of Saturday the 18th and carrying over to the 19th. Is there an estimate as to when this will be fixed? Thank you.

A:I'm sorry you were experiencing problems accessing the library's resources.  There were some issues with the server on the weekend, but they have been resolved now.

Can you try again and please let me know if you continue have any issues.
