Need for non-Apple chargers

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. Please get more laptop chargers other than for apple products.

A. Thank you for your suggestion. We're investigating which chargers to purchase. If you have specific suggestions, please let the staff at Belzberg know.

Reduced library hours during spring semester break

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I'm extremely surprised and very inconvenienced by your reduced hours during spring semester "break". This is not a break for me while I work on my final masters project and there were many students in there yesterday getting kicked out at the unreasonable time of 5pm. I know there were other SFU students in Belzberg prepping for practicums and I have no doubt other graduate students working on projects that don't stop at the end of semester. The staff don't make eye contact when security kicks you out either.

Downloading "Decisive Battles of the World"

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. This evening I was talking to the librarian regarding the book, "Decisive Battles Of The World". He gave me a link and I was able to download the book for free from Google Books. Thank you for your
help.

A. Thanks very much for letting us know. So glad we could help.

Updating Library card and signing in

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I registered my dismay at the way the computing system of the Library functions and suggested that it be replaced with a more user-friendly system, such as the one used by the VPL. I should mention that I am a professor in the Liberal Arts +55 program. Your previous reply stated "feel free to report specific issues you come across so we can address them if possible."

Issue 1: It is cumbersome when one must first sign into the computers in the library and then sign in again somewhat differently to access one's library record.

Request for longer opening times at Belzberg Library

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. We, a group of frustrated students, are wondering who we might contact to contest the weekend library hours at the Vancouver campus. The 5pm closing hours, especially during finals, is extremely early. Many of us work jobs and live in Vancouver (and, of course, pay substantial tuition to do so). We are dependent on library computers, printers, books, and other resources to complete our course work. Have the closing hours always been this early? Could you please tell me who is in charge of choosing library hours so we can connect with them?

Reserving or borrowing a laptop and cable connector from Belzberg (SFU Vancouver)

Published by Dipa Barua
I need to borrow a Dell laptop from the library for a conference presentation at Harbour Centre on July 31st. Is it possible to reserve one in advance, and can you supply a cable connector for the projector?

Thanks for asking.  You can borrow a Dell laptop and cable connector from Belzberg Library for your presentation, but this equipment cannot be booked ahead.  We generally have laptops available so just come into Belzberg before your presentation.
