Accessing articles for alumni

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: When I try to access articles from various databases such as JStor, I see this message:

"Bad Request/Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand./Size of a request header field exceeds server limit."

Does this mean that my access to some databases has been changed? (I am an alumna.)

A: I think there are two things happening:

Censoring Freedom to Read Week?

Q: This link (and others) were published to a "Freedom to Read Week" listing. Unfortunately none of the SFU pages are actually readable and are inaccessible to the public. Ironic?

Change my PIN Number

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I can’t figure out how to change my email address, or my PIN.

A. You can't change your address yourself through the library web page. Instructions on how to change your PIN are on our website here:

https://www.lib.sfu.ca/find/catalogue-signin (search for 'update your PIN').

New Catalogue and Privacy

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I like the new catalogue interface but I noticed it is hosted on server located outside of Canada. What personal information as defined in Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act is being stored, is there an option to opt out of the new catalogue and have users been properly informed that library services may not be fulfilled with Canadian servers?

Specifically when I try to see what I have checked out, it takes me too sfu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com which has an IP in Illinois, USA. Is my record being stored there?
