As part of the Simon Fraser Public Interest Research Group (SFPIRG)'s "Critical Vocabularies" workshop series, this workshop introduces and critically unpacks the concept of intersectionality. Offered in collaboration with the Student Learning Commons (SLC), we will focus specifically on how intersectionality is connected with students' research and writing in an academic context.

Through a combination of open discussion and engagement with relevant research and writing scenarios, we will consider how the concept of intersectionality can be useful and meaningful in our work as student scholars.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a critical understanding of the concept of intersectionality
  • Engage in open, collaborative discussion with peers about intersectional research and writing
  • Develop your own sense of how intersectionality can be a meaningful and useful part of scholarly work
