Whether you are writing an argumentative essay, a reflection essay, or any other type of essay, you will need to include a thesis statement. Generally, a thesis statement is at the beginning of your essay, but the rules for its format and placement may vary across different cultures and disciplines.

A strong thesis statement contains a claim, which controls the overall argumentation of your essay. Its purpose is to illustrate the relationship between two complex subjects, define causality, or evaluate a phenomenon. Watch the video for more tips on how to write a thesis statement and see some examples. Good luck with your assignments!
