Where can I study or socialize in the Library?

 Social space

At W.A.C. Bennett Library (SFU Burnaby) there is lounge space on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor.

This is not quiet study space, so you can meet up with your friends. (You may also be able to bring your lunch -- but please check the latest SFU Library's Food and Drink Policy first to make sure there are no restrictions.)

There is no lounge space in the Fraser (SFU Surrey) or Belzberg (SFU Vancouver) Libraries.

See SFU Library's Code of Conduct for more information on creating and maintaining a safe and productive space for all SFU community members.

Space for online meetings or classes

The most suitable space for online discussions, meetings, or classes depends on how you will be participating:

  • If you are certain you won't be talking, and are using headphones, you can use a silent or quiet space.
  • If it's possible that you will need to speak during your class or meeting -- even for a brief introduction -- you can use a social or "lounge" space in the Library (if at Bennett), or use a group study space.

When you are sharing space with others, please use your judgement, be conscious of your surroundings, and try not to disrupt anyone else's work. Note: individuals are also allowed to book group study rooms which can be used for online meetings or classes.

 Group study space

Designated group study areas are available at all three campuses.

See Meeting room booking policy and procedure at W.A.C. Bennett Library (SFU Burnaby) for more information.
