New Bennett Library closing hours
Published by Dipa BaruaQ: Can the Bennett Library's hours return to the original 11:45pm closing time? This has been extremely helpful to student study and performance.
A: Thank you for contacting the library about the change in our opening hours for 2024. SFU is currently experiencing a university-wide budget reduction and there is a staff hiring freeze in place. Details are available on the SFU website. The library has regrettably had to change hours in order to stay within our reduced budget, and due to staff shortages resulting from the hiring freeze. We have made changes to hours and services at times that will have the least impact on students based on past use of the building. We will consider reverting to longer hours once the hiring freeze is over and our budget allows us to do so.
