Library products for reading journals and newspapers

Now that we are in the middle of summer and many folks are away, I thought it would be a good time to highlight two library resources you might not know about yet for reading journals and newspapers online/on your mobile devices in an aesthetically pleasing way.
1. PressReader (previously PressDisplay)
This is the database for reading recent newspapers online. Content includes the daily Vancouver Sun, Province, Globe and Mail, National Post, and other Canadian dailies in full-colour, graphical format (see the quick links to these on the right when you log in).
Perhaps more interestingly, PressDisplay lets you read a wide selection of international newspapers (all together there are >1000 tiltes). A built-in translator is apparently available when viewing on an iPad. If you don't happen to have one, it can still be pretty neat to look at the ads for Skyr products, for instance, in the main Icelandic newspaper.
PressDisplay isn't just newspapers. You can also read *very specific* magazines such as Craft Brew and Brewing Magazine, Crochet World, and Log Home Living. Really, there is something for everyone.
2. Browzine
In short, Browzine provides a virtual personal bookshelf which you can add your favorite academic journals to. Journals that SFU Library subscribes to may be added. You can also set up journal alerts, and have new issues added to your virtual bookshelf as they are released. It's a handy way of creating a virtual library of your go-to journals in one place.
There is both a BrowZine App and a Browzine Web version, the latter of which is scheduled for fuller functionality in the fall.
Happy August.
