Library workshop
Published by Dipa BaruaQ. I was so excited to see the "Communicate with Purpose and Intent" workshop on Thursday, November 8th. I (and so many of my peers) have done amazing research contributing to the global pool of solutions for environmental issues, only to fail to communicate it effectively in layman's terms to the public.
However, this workshop falls at a time when so many of us have class, so I was wondering whether it will be recorded? If not, I would love to see this offered again sometime.
Lastly, could you extend workshops like these to undergraduates too? More and more undergraduates are doing research assistantships and theses before they graduate to give them a head-start for graduate school, and a workshop like this would provide the added support we need.
A. Thank you very much for letting us know about your interest in our workshop "Communicate with Purpose and Intent." I'm very glad to hear the topic resonated with you and your ongoing research and writing.
While we are not able to stream our workshops, we do offer them on a semesterly basis, and we hope to be including this session in our suite of workshops next semester. I will pass along your feedback to the facilitators so that they know there is additional interest in this workshop. In the meantime, we are also very happy to set up a consultation, either one-on-one or with a small group, at a time that is more convenient for you. Feel free to reach out to us at research-commons@sfu.ca.
Thank you for your suggestion about undergraduates attending Research Commons workshops and events. We currently allow (and encourage!) undergrads to register for any of our programs that interest them, although we ask them to keep in mind that the Research Commons primarily supports graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and we do give preference to those users.
