CARMA this week: Video Ethnography & Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis

As some of you may recall, last year we started a subscription to CARMA: an annual program established to provide university faculty, graduate students, and other researchers with advanced training in research methods and data analysis.

One benefit or our subscription is that we are able to view, as a group, a series of ten live webcast lectures presented by nationally recognized methodologists. These lectures are developed at an introductory and advanced doctoral student level and will typically include an introduction to the topic as well as a consideration of current technical issues. Emphasis is placed on the application of the research method technique.

All this as preamble to a reminder that the next two CARMA webcasts are coming up this Friday! See below for details, and visit our Research Commons workshops page for links to register. Note that both sessions will be held at our Bennett Library.

• Friday, February 26, 2016 - 9:00am to 10:00am: Dr. Curtis LeBaron, Brigham Young University: “Video Ethnography”
  
   
• Friday, February 26, 2016 - 10:15am to 11:15am: Dr. Peer Fiss, University of Southern California: “Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis”

Although there are, of course, many advantages to taking part in the live webcast (not the least of which would be rubbing elbows with others from SFU who are interested in the same sort of methodology!), remember that the CARMA webcasts do eventually become part of the CARMA video library -- viewable at your leisure from your home or office.
