Reminder: Copyright workshops for faculty this fall
Published by Mark BodnarThis message is a reminder of copyright workshops for faculty that are being offered at all SFU campuses in the next few weeks.
Judicial and legislative activity in the last 12 months ushered in a new era for copyright in Canada which has impacted SFU. The Supreme Court broadened their interpretation of fair dealing and Canada has a new Copyright Act with new specific exemptions for education. SFU opted out of the Access Copyright license and brought in a Copyright Policy as well as a Fair Dealing Policy that describes how copyrighted materials can be used for teaching and learning purposes at SFU. The University also has a centralized website for copyright related information (http://copyright.sfu.ca) and a single contact for copyright questions (copy@sfu.ca).
To learn about the new copyright landscape in Canada and at SFU; new SFU policies and copyright services; and the opportunities now available to make greater legal use of copyrighted materials in your teaching, you are invited to attend the copyright sessions being offered this fall:
SFU Burnaby session
