SFU Library Digital Publishing provides support for open access book publishing through hosting and support for SFU community members using PKP's Open Monograph Press.
If you are interested in hosting for your own open access press project or book series in Open Monograph Press (OMP), please read more about OMP below and contact us.
What is Open Monograph Press?
Open Monograph Press is an open source software platform for managing the editorial workflow required to see monographs, edited volumes and scholarly editions through internal and external review, editing, cataloguing, production, and publication. OMP can operate as a press website with catalog, distribution, and sales capacities. Members of the SFU community who are interested in managing publication of a book series may qualify for their own press site, as seen with SFU Archaeology Press.
You can learn more about Open Monograph Press and how it is used for independent publishing at The Public Knowledge Project: Open Monograph Press.
Our projects
Digital Publishing hosts a publication series consisting of open access monographs, edited volumes, and conference proceedings written or edited by SFU faculty, staff, and students. The series features high-quality scholarship with an emphasis on work that falls outside of the market of traditional university presses, especially that which exists within emerging fields of study or in the margins between disciplines. The series aims to make SFU scholarship open, online, and discoverable by scholars around the world.
We also work with instructors and their students to publish open access books as part of a for-credit class. For more information, please see the in-class publishing projects page.
