COVID-19: Media and Maker Commons services

Limited by-appointment services for SFU Instructors only are available in the Media and Maker Commons.

All SFU Libraries are currently closed to in-person use due to the COVID-19 virus.

We continue to offer online and virtual support where possible.

The Media and Maker Commons has two Ryobi Hyrbid 18V Soldering Stations that can be used with a power cord or a Ryobi 18V battery. Each station is equipped with soldering essentials like soldering wire, wire clippers and safety glasses. You can solder any small to medium size circuits at these soldering stations for your electronics projects.

Get started

To use these soldering stations, you will have to complete an online tutorial followed by a hands-on training and then you are ready to build your own circuits and solder them at the MMC.

Currently, these soldering stations are only meant for electronic soldering use and not to be used for wood-burning or any other projects.

Please note, All SFU Libraries are currently closed to in-person use due to the COVID-19 virus.  This includes the Media and Maker Commons.  We continue to offer online and virtual support where possible.
