"An enriching and formative experience"
Let's hear from one of our former GIS Peers about their experience working in this role:
Working as a GIS Peer at the Research Commons has been an enriching and formative experience during my time as a graduate student at SFU. This role has not only introduced me to fascinating research projects that work with GIS but has also helped me achieve personal and professional goals. Through developing and leading workshops for students and researchers, this role has helped me develop my teaching and communication skills while also furthering my GIS and data analysis skills. The opportunity to work with researchers from various disciplines has been rewarding and has broadened my knowledge and exposed me to many interesting research projects using GIS. Being a GIS peer has been instrumental in shaping my professional and personal growth in graduate school
