Wondering where to find datasets that will be most suitable for your research project or thesis? The data ecosystem is scattered across multiple providers and subject areas, which makes finding what you need both challenging and time-consuming. Also, the vagueness surrounding the data-related terms is likely to add more difficulties. This workshop will cover:
- clarifying your data needs
- differences and links between statistics, microdata, Census data, and more
- introduction to a few data sources, including Statistics Canada, CHASS, Nesstar, ICPSR, Statista, Simply Analytics, and open data portals
Note: while the workshop may be useful for researchers across disciplines, it will likely be of particular help to those who work with social/economic/behavioural/governmental data.
