Campus Appeals 2007 - 2013: Student spaces
2013
In 2013, library staff raised almost $9,500. With matching funds our total raised was over $17,000! This money contributed to the renovation of the third floor fireplace lounge area that we saw so many students using even before it was complete. Thank you to everyone who donated to this project!
Third Floor Fireplace Lounge
2012
In 2012, we raised $9,099, which when matched, the final total came out to $18,198! We were very close to our goal and we are very grateful to all those who helped us in achieving 91% of our goal. In addition, we've raised another $695 for various Library Endowment Funds. Thank you!
The money will be used to create a new north side student lounge, encompassing a fireplace, a cozy student lounge area and accent lighting on the north side of the third floor.
2011
In 2011, we raised $7,800, which when matched, the final total came out to $15,600! Again, although our goal wasn't reached, we are very grateful to all those who helped us in achieving 80% of our goal. Thank you!
This money will be used to provide display screens, white boards, and technology upgrades to the group study rooms on the second floor of the library.

2010
In 2010, we raised $7,966, which when matched, the final total came out to $15,932! Although our goal wasn't reached, we are very grateful to all those who helped us in achieving 80% of our goal. Thank you!
Silent Study Room (5102) on the fifth floor (East side)
We want to improve this Silent Study Room to make it more comfortable for students who want absolute silence while studying. Final plans are still in the works, but we hope to have improved lighting, flooring, comfortable seating and study tables with the possibility of built in power and lighting.

2008 & 2009
In 2009, we continued 2008's goal of revitalizing the northwest corner of the 6th floor. In tough economic times, we still raised $8,000! With matching funds our final total came out to $16,000, which works out to almost $48,000 over the two campaign years!
Thanks to the generous donations, the students are enjoying this quiet study area tremendously. This area currently has seating for 50 students at a variety of different study spaces. There are cafe style high study tables with views to the west and north, comfortable bench seating in the corner, study tables with built in power and lighting and built in desks. The area is finished off with a latticed wall and a refurbishment of the flooring creating a distinct, defined area.
In 2008, we met our goal! Staff, faculty, and retirees from the Library and SFU community raised $10,638.77 to revitalize the northwest corner of the 6th floor by adding new carpet, tables, electrical and reading lamps to turn this underutlized space into a much-needed quiet study zone. With matching funds, the final total came out to $31,916.31. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered and gave to the campaign – we couldn't have done this without you!

Comments from a Student:
"I wanted to thank all staff members involved in creating the new study spaces in the library. The quiet study area on the sixth floor is now my favourite place to go and get serious amount of work done."
2007
Staff, faculty, and retirees from the Library and SFU community raised $11,784.15 to create a student lounge on the 2nd floor of Bennett Library. The Library generously provided matching funds to bring the final total to $23,568.30. This has been our most successful campaign to date. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered and gave to the campaign – we couldn't have done this without you!
We are excited about the opportunity to enhance the student experience by creating a comfortable space for students to read, work, discuss, and rest.

Campus Campaign 2006: Audiovisual kits for loan
Last year library staff raised $7,519.40, which came to $15,038.80 with matching funds. With these funds the Library was able to purchase five audiovisual kits for students to check out from loans the same way they check out laptops. Presentations are becoming an important part of students' work and these kits are helpful for building and rehearsing presentations. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this happen!

2005 Campus Campaign: Student space
