 Update: Important changes to the SFU Central Open Access Fund

Beginning April 1st 2024, we have made significant changes to the SFU Central Open Access Fund.

The SFU Central Open Access (OA) Fund supports SFU authors who publish in fully open access journals that charge article processing charges.  

SFU authors are invited to fill out and submit this form to request financial support from the SFU Central Open Access Fund.

Before submitting your Open Access fund application

Please read the eligibility and guidelines information for the Fund before submitting your application.

If an alternate funding source is available that permits payment of submission fees, this source should be used before applying to the fund. 

This form should be completed at the time of article submission to the publisher.

Determine if your article or book chapter is eligible for funding

Are you the submitting or corresponding author?
Is the article or book chapter a result of your research conducted at SFU?
Have you included your SFU affiliation in your article or book chapter submission?

No: If you answered no to any of these questions, you are not eligible for funding from the OA Fund for this article.

Yes: If you answered yes you may be eligible for funding from the OA Fund for this article.  Please complete the rest of this form.

Note: This Fund covers only fees associated with open access publishing:

  • for fully open journals
  • and only if the total APCs (Article Processing Charges) for an article are under $3,500 CAD.
