Course textbook donations

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: I am an undergrad, graduating student at SFU (June 2020). I have a lot of course textbooks and I was wondering whether they could be donated to the library?

A: The Library considers donations of rare or unique materials suitable for the Library's Special Collections and Rare Books Division.

Donating books to the Library

Q. If I have scholarly books that I'm removing from my home library, is there a way to check if the library would accept them for the collection (if they're books the library would like)? I'm happy to send a quick bibliography.

A. Thanks for thinking about the SFU Library.

We consider donations of materials for the Library if they are suitable for the Library's Special Collections and Rare Books collections. Some examples are rare and unique photographs, rare books, personal archives, etc.

Donation of political cartoon books

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Good morning. We are trying to downsize and I have come across some Roy Peterson / Alan Fotheringham political cartoon books. Would your library be interested in receiving a donation of them?

*****

A: Hello,

Thanks very much for thinking of SFU Library and offering us your books.

Donation of Punk Rock Record

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Do you accept 45 rpm records for your Punk rock collection? I think I have a Pointed Sticks 45 from their early days. It was played maybe twice, so it should be in fairly good shape still.

A: Thank you for offering a Pointed Sticks 45. Special Collections would very much like to add it to our Vancouver Punk Collection.

Architecture Books Donation

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: My father was an architect and Harvard graduate- he was a professor for Master of Architecture for Urban Design and Environmental Studies for 30 years. He has passed away and we have a library of books that he owned and used. There are in excellent shape and are quite expensive. I am wondering if your libraries would like them as a donation. Not sure how many exactly but I am estimating around 100 or so.

Can you let me know if your library would like them and I would be willing to drop them off - thank you kindly.
