Scheduling your Consultation or Read Ahead request

Type of service

The Read Ahead service focuses on a document or project or a portion thereof (examples: an essay, a conference paper, a chapter of a thesis). Feedback on your document will be sent to you via email.

Consultations are one-on-one discussions about writing concerns, learning concerns, English as Additional Language (EAL) questions, or presentations. Consultations can include discussion of a document or project, but do not need to. Consultation meetings can be arranged on campus or online.

For Read Ahead requests: Information about your document or project

Please note that facilitators do not edit or proofread work. Rather, we provide feedback on patterns of error related to things like: structure, style, flow, transitions, grammar, verb use, presentation.

For consultations: Information about your concerns, project, or document

Once your request is received, you will be contacted within two to three business days. Requests will be responded to in the order in which they are received and are subject to the availability of the Coordinator and Facilitators.

Consultations are confidential and will be managed in accordance with BC's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information on this website is collected under the authority of the University Act (R.S.B.C. 1996, c.468) and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RSBC 1996, c. 165). It is related directly to and needed by the University for services provided by the Student Learning Commons. The information will be used to maintain a record of consultation with Student Learning Commons staff.
