Join us for online GIS workshops in Summer 2020 

The SFU Library Research Commons offers a few online introductory GIS workshops. Unable to install ArcGIS to your home computer? No worries! In these workshops, we will use QGIS and ArcGIS Online.

Note: registration is required for all online workshops.

Introduction to Spatial Thinking and ArcGIS Online

Learn how to approach research spatially in this workshop with ArcGIS Online, which is a cloud based GIS environment which requires no software installation.

Map Time on Instagram Live 
"Map Time" is a series of short conversations with experts on maps and mapping from across the globe. Every Thursday from April to August, the Harvard Map Collection and the Norman B. Leventhal Map and Education Center at the Boston Public Library will host on Instagram Live at the Harvard Map Collection's InstagramRecordings are also available on YouTube. 

"How to do map stuff" Event
Talented cartographers talking about map stuff. Live stream on YouTube on April 29 and recordings are available (just click on the links to each session on the schedule). Organized by Daniel Huffman of Somethingaboutmaps. Check his blog post about the event. 

Symposium of the International Society for the History of the Map 
Themed “Breaking Boundaries.” Originally scheduled to take place in São Paulo, Brazil, the event will move to online and take place on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13, 10:30-4:00 pm (EST) via Zoom. Registration is free and open to the public. 

2020 Esri User Conference 
2020 Esri User Conference will be a virtual event this year from July 13 – 15.  SFU faculty members, students, and staff will be able to register for it for free of charge under our license with ESRI.    All SFU students will be eligible to get access to all plenary sessions, demos, technical sessions and user presentations. For instructions on how to register for the conference, please read this guide
