Celebrate Gandhi Jayanti at SFU

Gandhi Jayanti at SFU

Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India’s independence from British Rule, and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

Gandhi Jayanti is an annual celebration to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. October 2, 2019 is the 150th anniversary of Gandhi's birth.

In honour of this significant anniversary and to raise awareness of Gandhi’s life and ideals, Simon Fraser University is presenting free public programming.
