Library services for Health Sciences graduate students

 Borrowing

Graduate students at SFU enjoy a semester loan period (subject to recall)

Renew your books online. An unlimited number of renewals are available when you renew your books in person (with materials present) and there are no outstanding requests by other Library patrons

In-person borrowing privileges are available from many other Canadian universities via the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement

Loans staff can answer questions related to borrowing (renewals, fines, etc.): 778.782.4345 (Burnaby), 778.782.5050 (Harbour Centre), and 778.782.7411 (Surrey)

Research

SFU Library has over 2 million books and access to over 500 online databases and 63,000 electronic journals, much of which is available 24/7 through the library's website

The Library's Health Sciences Information Resources Guide has links to several key Health Sciences resources, including Medline and the Canadian Health Reseach Collection.

If SFU Library doesn't have the book or article you need, we can get it as an interlibrary loan – at no charge to you!

Current awareness

Stay current with research in your areas and the latest articles being published in specific journals by setting up RSS feeds or email alerts

If you aren't sure how to set up RSS feeds or email alerts, a librarian would be happy to help.

New resources arrive at SFU Library every week. You can find online lists for new books by subject, format, and location

Writing, preparing, and submitting your thesis

The Research Commons offers workshops, one-to-one writing consultations, and other services specifically tailored for graduate students

The Assistant for Theses provides guidance on preparing and submitting your thesis, including thesis template workshops and information on deadlines and forms.
