Introduction
This is the Library report for the proposed Master of Arts in the Humanities.
The SFU Library's current collecting activities are not sufficient to support a graduate program in the Humanities. Particular weak areas of collecting are in religious studies, classics, and Southeast Asian Philosophies. This report reflects the need to enhance our current collecting activities.
Bibliographic Tools
The library subscribes to a number of databases that will prove to be useful for this program including Academic Source Elite, Humanities and Social Science Index, Philosopher's Index, JSTOR, and Project Muse.
The ATLA Religious Database was purchased last year and will also be useful for several courses in this program.

Monographs
The SFU Library will need to expand our profiles with our book wholesalers in order to purchase monographs that will support the Humanities department at a Graduate Student Level. It is suggested that the following Blackwell's subject headings either be turned on to forms, or if already turned on, increasing collecting activity:

15450200 Religion - general. 5 books/year with an average book price of $77=$385
