HIST 3xx Global Histories

This is the Library’s assessment of HIST 3XX Global Histories. This elective course will first be offered in 2004-03 and once a year thereafter with an expected enrollment of 40 students.

The course outline reading list included list of more than 135 books, and dozens of journal articles, all of which are held in the SFU Library.  

There is one film on the course outline that is not held in the SFU Library, and should be acquired for the collection.

This is the Library's assessment for Hist 4xx Catholicism in Early Modern Europe. This elective course will first be offered in 2005-2.

The course outline included a 9-page bibliography of materials including reference sources, books in the circulating collection, and journals, all of which are held in the SFU Library.  

The Library has adequate holdings to support this course.  

Bibliographic Tools

The primary bibliographic tools for all of the courses listed above will be Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life, both provided by library license. Supplementary tools, such as the Humanities and Social Sciences Index, Sociological Abstracts, Project Muse Search and Web of Science may also prove useful.

Total cost: there are no new library costs associated with these courses.

Note:  The materials required for these courses are located in the WAC Bennett Library on the Burnaby campus.  This assessment is based on the assumption that the courses will be offered at SFU’s Burnaby campus.  If the courses were to be offered at SFU Surrey or Harbour Centre, or an off-campus courses, additional Library costs would be incurred.
