This is the Library's report on the proposed Bachelor of General Studies (Education) to be offered on the Surrey Campus in the Fall of 2008.
The SFU Surrey Library is currently collecting material to support Education students on a course by course basis. Last year, Surrey spent $30,000 on education monographs in support of Education programming and this will need to be maintained. The approval of the Bachelor of General Studies (Education) will bring additional collections demands as well as a general increase of Education students on the Surrey Campus. Surrey's collecting activity will have to increase in order to adequately support this. Additional course offerings will require the acquisition of core collections to support students at Surrey, at an average of 10 books per course at an average price of $75.
The SFU Surrey Library has already established a general reference collection that will support these students. No additional Bibliographic Tools or Journal subscriptions will be necessary to support this degree program.
