ENSC 280: Engineering Measurement Techniques and Statistics

ENSC 280: Engineering Measurement Techniques and Statistics is an introductory course to be offered at the Surrey campus on an annual basis, with a projected enrollment of 70.

Subjects related to this course topic are below. The first number is total holdings at SFU; the number in parentheses are the number of books at the Surrey campus.
Engineering -- Measurement 5 (1)
Engineering -- Statistical Methods 35 (6)

These subject are limited in scope and will require only a few additional books each year to provide resources for students. The library foresees 5 books a year should be purchased on these topics by adding the Blackwell subject heading "Engineering Math" to the Surrey forms profile.
10 books x average book cost of $150 = $1,500 annually

Journals and Bibliographic Tools
Based on the course outline, it is not anticipated that students in this course will require journals or databases to support their assignments. Existing library holdings in Engineering should be sufficient for any needs that may arise.

Total Costs
One-time costs: $1,313
Ongoing costs: $1,500

These costs will be part of the library's request for funding for the 09/10 year. We will await confirmation from Joanne Curry via Sylvia Roberts, Acting Campus Librarian for Surrey. There are no costs to the School of Engineering Science.
