About the workshop

Join us for a casual discussion focused on digital humanities tools, approaches, and projects and their place in your research. Digital humanities seeks to bring new technological tools and methods to the teaching, research, and creative work of traditional humanities disciplines. Bring your questions whether you’re completely new to this topic or enthusiastically entrenched in it!

Ali Moore, Digital Scholarship Librarian, Digital Humanities Innovation Lab (DHIL), SFU Library
Ali supports the DHIL projects, in addition to offering consultations and facilitating workshops on DH projects and tools. Ali is currently the Manager of the SFU Knowledge Mobilization Hub. Ali has expertise supporting student and faculty researchers with scholarly communications, knowledge mobilization, research impact, online presence, and data visualization. 

Joey Takeda, User Interface Developer,  Digital Humanities Innovation Lab (DHIL), SFU Library
Joey has worked as a programmer for a number of DH projects, including
The Map of Early Modern London, Landscapes of Injustice, Linked Early Modern Drama Online, and The Winnifred Eaton Archive. He has an MA in English from the University of British Columbia, where his research focused on Indigenous and diasporic literature, textual and editorial approaches, queer theory, and ecocriticism.

About Grad Conversations

Grad Conversations are casual, themed conversations where SFU graduate students and selected guests are invited to discuss important topics central to being a graduate student at SFU. No presentations and no Power Points—just space for dialogue and open discussion. 

Attend Grad Conversations and connect with other grad students, ask questions, learn more about a topic, and share your experiences, feedback, and ideas. 

They are hybrid events. You have the option to attend in-person in the Research Commons in Bennett Library, or online via Zoom. We do not record these events. 

Grad Conversations are proudly hosted by Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and SFU Library's Research Commons.
