Lynda.com is now LinkedIn Learning (LIL)
As of 16 January 2020, SFU's subscription to Lynda.com will change to LinkedIn Learning, and Lynda.com's site will no longer be available.
Create and activate a LinkedIn Learning account to access
To use LinkedIn Learning (LIL) you will need an LIL account.
The SFU Library makes the LinkedIn Learning (LIL) service available to you for your convenience. Your use of the LinkedIn Learning service at Simon Fraser University is voluntary.
Please be advised that the personal information you disclose to LIL is stored on servers located in the United States of America.
By logging in to LinkedIn Learning (LIL), you consent to the collection of information about you. This information is collected for the University under the general authority of the University Act (R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 468), the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (R.S.B.C.), and SFU Policy GP-24, "Fair Use of Information and Communications Technology". It is related directly to and needed by LinkedIn Learning and the University in order to provide access to LinkedIn Learning. The information collected at the time of login will be used only for the purposes of sufficiently identifying a unique user of the system or for troubleshooting sign-on issues. Transfer your courses, preferences, and history from Lynda.com by 01 April 2020
Activate your LinkedIn Learning account by 01 April 2020 to to transfer your Lynda.com history.
When you create a LinkedIn Learning account with your SFU email address, all your learning activity and history from your Lynda.com account will automatically be transferred to LinkedIn Learning.
For your Lynda.com history to transfer, you must use the same SFU email account for both Lynda.com and LinkedIn Learning. If the emails are not the same, there is no match point between the Lynda.com account and the new LIL account.
After 01 April 2020, you can still create a LinkedIn Learning account but your Lynda.com history will not be transferred over to LinkedIn Learning.
Update links to videos and courses by the end of March 2020
Links to individual courses and videos will automatically redirect from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning up until the end of March 2020. Before the end of March 2020, please update your links.
Download this link transition Excel spreadsheet tool from LinkedIn Learning to determine new LinkedIn Learning links/URLs. From within the tool, input the Lynda.com link and get the LinkedIn Learning link. On the bottom tabs you can switch between single links or multiple links.
