How to submit publication in the celebration of authors event

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I am an alumni of SFU and have published a book based on my doctoral research. I just found out about your celebration of authors event and am wondering how I might submit. The book was published in Jan. 2019 by Pickwick Publications. The title is Mourning the Dream/Amor Fati: An Illustrated Mythopoetic Inquiry. Any information regarding this would be most appreciated.

Downloading "Decisive Battles of the World"

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. This evening I was talking to the librarian regarding the book, "Decisive Battles Of The World". He gave me a link and I was able to download the book for free from Google Books. Thank you for your
help.

A. Thanks very much for letting us know. So glad we could help.

Walkway safety during construction

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. Recent construction activities around the library have involved regular changes to the walkways including constricted areas for students and others to navigate. The accumulation of snow, ice and slush on these narrowed walkways is creating hazardous conditions where walking has been restricted. It seems to me that the construction workers should take the time after each snowfall to ensure that the walkways are cleared to ensure safety for pedestrians. Currently there are piles of slush on sections of narrowed stairways which should be cleared.

Accessing an article in the Policy & Politics journal

More device chargers in the library

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I think the library needs to purchase more chargers for iPads, iPhones, and Androids. I had to quickly use the charger but they were unavailable.

A. We are currently taking inventory of our numerous and varied chargers. We will replenish those we consider to be low in stock. It would be helpful in situations such as this to reference a specific model of charger for your device so that we can be sure we have a good supply.

Gender-neutral washrooms in the library

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I've been having some access issues lately at the Bennett Library - there is currently only one gender-neutral washroom available to students in the whole library due to construction on the fourth floor. It feels humiliating to have to wait in front of the bathroom on the 7th floor several times a week, often for ten minutes or more, simply because the library does not have any other options available for trans and non-binary students. I often lose fifteen to twenty minutes of work-time just to quickly use the washroom.

Heating on the 6th floor

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. Would it be possible to increase the heat slightly on the 6th floor? It's quite chilly.

A. We have submitted a request to our facilities department to increase the temperature on the 6th floor.

Ordering an item on the catalogue list

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I am astounded by the incompetence of this interface. I have signed in. I search for an item in the catalogue and receive a list. I pick out what I want and instead of being sent to a dialogue where I can order the item, I receive a list of a dozen irrelevant actions such as sending an email. Astounding. Please go back to the old interface.

Bookmarklet is unresponsive

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. Bookmarklet is not working. When I try to use the Library Bookmarklet to get access to research journals off campus it doesn't load for a long time and then tells me that my username or password is
incorrect. But both my username and password still get me into my SFU mail and goSFU etc.

Slow to load results in the library catalogue

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. The SFU Library catalogue is so slow that it gives me a heart attack just trying to scroll through and clicking the "Load More Results" button.

A. Thank you for reporting this issue. We have notified the vendor and hope to get this fixed as soon as possible.
