Q: Why were alumni not contacted to see if they could support maintaining the digital access to community newspapers that will soon be taken offline? Or if a partnership with other universities was considered? It feels like digital access to historical news is important to preserve.

A: Our intent is not to take these newspapers offline, it's to have the owners of the newspapers, the Multicultural Historical Society of Ontario, find a new host for them to provide ongoing access to the newspapers. We continue to work with MHSO until they find new hosts, including supporting them in their conversations with universities and other potential hosts for these newspapers.

In response to your question about consulting alumni, we normally do not consult alumni about ordinary operational matters.
