Q. Yesterday I returned the book whose data are reproduced below through the automated system located at the entrance of the library. Today I see that the book is still listed as in my possession. It is not the first time something like this has happened. Is there a way to make sure book returns done through the automated system are actually successful?

A. We have marked the book on your record as 'claimed returned' and we will check our collection for it. When you put the book in the automated return (barcode facing up), you have the option to print a receipt. If the receipt shows the title of the book, then it has been checked in and will no longer be on your library record.
