Company Histories: 144 online volumes = a great starting place for company research

Published by Mark Bodnar

We've just added 9 more volumes to our online  International Directory of Company Histories series. That makes 144 volumes of 3-5 page histories of companies from around the world -- somewhere near a gazillion pages in total (that's just a rough estimate)!

The IDCH provides information on founders, expansions and losses, labor/management actions, NAICS codes, key dates, ticker symbol, principal subsidiaries, principal divisions, principal operating units, principle competitors and other significant milestones -- along with with statistics, dates and names of key players for companies ranging from ABB Ltd (a "leading global power and automation technology company") to Zions Bancorporation (a banking firm in the Western US.)

A few more examples of companies covered by the IDCH:

  • Target Corporation (did you know they started out as Goodfellow Dry Goods in 1902?)
  • Enbridge Inc. (bet you've heard of them...)
  • Tim Horton's Inc. (who appear to be in the news today - the IDCH entry doesn't have the most recent info, but it does give you a foundation to help you understand such recent developments)

See our earlier post on the IDCH for more details on this useful resource.
