NEW DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE LIBRARY'S INTERLIBRARY LOANS SERVICE
In order to meet the demand to do more with less, the Interlibrary Loans Unit continues to automate internal processes and introduce electronic services for users. The staff-mediated processing of borrowing requests from SFU users has largely been automated using AVISO management software. In the spring 1995, the Library also implemented an on-line VT100 and WWW ILL Request Form which enables faculty and students to request items from their office or home computers or public wrokstations in the Library. The UBCLIB REQUEST service, introduced in September 1994, enabled users to direct request over 7,000 items on-line from UBC Library in 1994/95. On the lending side, the majority of requests from outside libraries will be processed through the new Innovative Interfaces computer system.
