Introduction:

This is the library's course assessment for the following courses:

CRIM 340: Policy Making and Policy Analysis
CRIM 351: Police Accountability and Ethics
CRIM 456: Investigative Psychology in Policing
CRIM 457: Crime and Criminal Intelligence Analysis
CRIM 465: Crime, Economics, and the Economy

These courses will first be offered in Fall 2008 or Spring 2009 and will be offered at both the Burnaby and Surrey (possible exception: CRIM 340) campuses. This assessment covers costs for both campuses.

Journals:

The SFU library has excellent serials holdings in Criminology. Most, if not all, of these titles are available electronically and therefore available at all SFU Campuses. For example:

Criminology
Crime, law, and social change
Journal of investigative psychology and offender profiling
Legal and criminal psychology

Policing: An international journal of police strategies and management
Police practice and research

For more examples, please see the following lists:
Criminology Journals
Sage Criminology Collection
Please note that the above lists are not exhaustive, but merely examples of our collection.

No additional journal subscriptions are necessary to support these courses.

Monographs:

The Bennett Library is actively collecting in these subject areas. However, these subject areas are mostly new to Surrey. In order to ensure that Surrey is collecting materials to support the Criminology students and faculty members on its campus, the following subject headings will have to be turned on to forms with our major book wholesaler:

398010 - Police & police administration division
398030 - Crime prevention
39802530 - Criminal investigation technology
39802580 - Investigation of specific crimes

It is estimated that approximately 60 additional titles will be purchased from the above forms.
At an average book price of $85, this will cost $5100/year

Total ongoing monograph costs for Surrey: $5100
