Researching in an area new to you or outside of discipline? Handbooks can be a great entry point to new topics.
Do you need books, articles, theses, or other research materials that aren't in SFU Library's collection? What about an obscure government document, books on dog nutrition, fiction in other languages, or an out-of-print Festschrift about your favourite scholar? These are just some of the resources we may be able to obtain for you for free through SFU Library's Interlibrary Loan System.
I'm pleased to note the library's APA citation guide is now updated to reflect the newest APA 7th edition.
Still using the 6th edition version? No problem - the library continues to provide access to a PDF version of our 6th edition guide.
Good news! As of today, interlibrary loan times for some books has now been extended from 3 weeks to 6 weeks*. This added loan time applies to books borrowed from partner COPPUL libraries (a collection of university libraries in Western Canada). In addition, there is a possibility of renewal for another six weeks, for a maximal potential loan time of 12 weeks!
With most summer days bringing hot and sunny conditions, reading dense, academic texts and treatises may not be piquing your interest at the moment. Why not take a break with some lighter introductions to academic topics? The library now owns a handful of illustrated guides to popular academic topics available for check-out or download. Did you know that SFU is home to one of many Research Data Centres (RDC) in Canada? At the RDC, researchers may access confidential Statistics Canada microdata.
Researchers must apply to access the RDC data.
Why use the RDC microdata files instead of (or in addition to) the microdata files already available at SFU Library? Certain data may be available:
Yes! SFU Library has access to the APA Handbook of Forensic Psychology. It can be found in the PsycBOOKS database. Just log into the database, search for the title, and the full text should appear.
Please note, not all of the APA Handbooks are currently showing up in our catalogue. However, the good news is that we should have access to all APA Handbooks via PsycBOOKS.
