I was just scanning the news (that's what a business researcher does to relax) and spotted the following story at the BBC site: Britain in two-week coal-free record.

As the article states, "Britain has not used coal to generate electricity for two weeks - the longest period since the 1880s." The move toward alternative energy sources is gathering momentum in the UK and having measureable impacts. [...]

Since I am an opportunist at heart, this is a chance for me to highlight the many alternative energy industry overviews available in our databases...

SFU students, faculty, staff, and alumni now have access to Mergent Intellect, a database of information on industries, companies, and people from such well-known business organizations as Hoover's, Dun & Bradstreet®, Mergent, Career Beam, Whitepages, Nielsen, and First Research.

A couple bits of public-opinion-polling news today: 

1. Ipsos just published a report on Trust in News Sources in Canada -- extremely relevant and important in our age of fake news.

2. Still with Ipsos, they are in the midst of a move toward providing a greater number of detailed poll results for free (no more subscription required) on a global scale.  Check out their CanadaUSUK, and Global sites to start.  Look for a link to News & Polls at each site.

Breaking news!  Ipsos Canada, one of Canada's major public opinion research firms, has donated the detailed data files from many of their studies to Wilfred Laurier University... and they are now freely available to the whole world!
