Around this time last year, I wrote a blog post extolling the many benefits of Bloomberg Markets Certification (BMC), especially the value of having this free, 8-hour, self-paced course listed on your resume if you're in accounting or finance.

Our Vividata Target Snapshot database has new data and new functionality -- just in time for the busy fall semester!
I'm still exploring it and discovering all the changes, but thought I'd pause to list what I've learned so far:
Data: Data from the 2016 Q4 survey wave has been added. The data was gathered during the period of 06/30/2016 and 06/30/2017. Sadly, it appears that the older data has been supplanted. That's a pity as it is often useful to compare data across time periods.

As you may have noticed, the SFU Library provides access to thousands of ebooks.
Sooo... Staples Advantage Canada has named today "National Clean Your Office Day." My cynical side sees the obvious marketing ploy, of course, but my I-can't-find-my-desk side grudgingly accepts that perhaps some tidying and organizing (and recycling, scrubbing, airing-out...) might be worth investigating.

I was just looking for something in our ThomsonOne-Investment Banking database when I noticed a feature that I hadn't really explored before. Under Screening & Analysis > Individuals > Officers & Directors > Connections I was able to track the connections between two directors or C-suite personnel from different corporations.
I was just scanning a report on the usage this spring of our IBISWorld database and was impressed by how wide the range of interests within SFU can be in such a short time. Our researchers are looking into everything!
