Open Educational Resources (OER) for Remote Instruction (Online)

Note: This workshop will be run on the Zoom platform. You don't have to install the Zoom app on your computer, but it might make it easier to use all of the features. Make sure your computer has access to the internet via an up-to-date browser.

Are you looking for alternatives to expensive commercial textbooks for your online course this fall? Open educational resources (OER) are teaching and learning resources created with the intention of being freely available to users anywhere. Most are covered by open licenses that permit using, re-mixing, and sharing of content. Examples of OER include open textbooks, readings, multi-media files, software, games, assessment tools, and even entire courses. In this session, learn more about where to find and how to use OER for remote instruction.

Facilitators: Hope Power (Teaching & Learning Librarian), Emerly Liu (Simon Fraser Student Society) and Jennifer Zerkee (Copyright Specialist)

We also invite you to attend the Copyright in the Virtual Classroom workshop taking place earlier the same day. Further details and registration are available here.
