SFU Library quiet study areas policy

In order to ensure a pleasant and productive environment for study and research for all users, the Library has designated Quiet Study, Silent Study and Group Study areas.

Signage indicating these designations is posted on study carrels and elsewhere.

If individuals or groups are conducting conversations or otherwise disturbing others in these areas, please notify a library staff member.

Note: cell phone conversations may be conducted in the stairwells and group study areas.

Quiet study

  • speak quietly and keep conversations brief
  • no cell phone use

  • All study seating on Floors 4, 5 & 7
  • Room 4009 on Floor 4

Belzberg Library (SFU Vancouver)

Fraser Library (SFU Surrey)

  • All areas of the Library except those designated as silent study or group study

Silent study

  • refrain from talking or using cell phones
