Accessing articles for alumni

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: When I try to access articles from various databases such as JStor, I see this message:

"Bad Request/Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand./Size of a request header field exceeds server limit."

Does this mean that my access to some databases has been changed? (I am an alumna.)

A: I think there are two things happening:

We have access to that journal, but libaccess won't let me get to it.

Q: For some reason you can't get Acta Crystallographica papers via lib access. For example: "To allow http://scripts.iucr.org/cgi-bin/paper?S0567739476001551 to be used in a starting point URL, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize the hostname of this URL in the config.txt file.
Within this database's section of config.txt, either the following line must be added: Host scripts.iucr.org or, alternatively, a RedirectSafe for this host or domain may be appropriate.
After editing config.txt, the EZproxy server must be restarted to make changes take effect."

Journal Access

Q: Why is Oregon Historical Quarterly only accessible up through 2010?

A:Hello,
The journal Oregon historical quarterly is only available to 2010 as JSTOR does not provide access to the most current issues of journals because of agreements made with publishers. In most cases 2-5 full years plus the current calendar year are excluded, except for selected titles from the Current Scholarship Collection.

Library e-book access freezing

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Hi there, I have been trying to access a library e-book. I have tried a few times using
library computers, but every time I try it temporarily freezes my browser and then brings up the following error message: We're sorry. The page you requested cannot be found.
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
•Make sure the URL is spelled correctly in the address bar.
•Make sure the page you are trying to access is available to your account
