Alumni Journal Database Access

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I graduated in 2015 and my email account is going to be shut down this month. I assume my library privileges will also change. I like the online databases for articles, and I have to sign in with that
email ID to access those. I know I can borrow books with my alumni card (from my earlier degree, even), but is there anything I can do to maintain the journal database access?

Error codes while searching the SFU Library database

Published by Anonymous

Q:  I have been getting error pages for the last several hours (current time 2:40pm Sunday, May 31, 2015) whenever I attempt to search the library database from the library home page. I can not seem to find a proper server status page that would update people on the status or estimated time of repair either (the one that comes up in a search of SFU  sites is http://researcher.sfu.ca/servers, and this seems to be about 7 years out of date).

Access to SFU Library Database

Question: I work within the University of Limerick in Ireland and wanted to know if it is possible to get access to your online database: The complete Wall Street Journal in digital format from 1889-1990. If this is possible can you please let me know the procedure or if the request would have to be made through our own Library service.

Canadian Newsstand database at SFU

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Hello, I wanted to comment on the Canadian Newsstand database at SFU. This resource unfortunately is not accurate reflecting Canadian news coverage. We did a comparison search with the Canadian Newsstand Complete database, accessible at UBC versus the one at SFU. We found over 2 times the amount of article on our topic area. This is significant if people are trying to do media related research that is national in scope.
