Suggestion for New Title Purchase: Executive Bulletin

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Suggest a Title for Purchase
Title: Executive Bulletin
Author: Global Institute of Forensic Research
Publisher & where & when published: Global Institute of Forensic Research, US, monthly
Where you saw this item mentioned: https://www.gifrinc.com/services/bulletin
Your affiliation: SFU Undergraduate Student

A: Thanks for the suggestion. Indeed, this might be a good fit for both departments, and costs are often shared for resources that fit the research needs of multiple departments.

To provide you with more detail, all requests for new subscriptions to serials go through the faculty library representative for the department. Because serials (e.g., journals and databases) require a commitment of ongoing collections funds, a new subscription usually requires cancellation of an existing journal subscription to meet the funding requirements. For this title in particular, we were quoted $4200 per year which would invariably require cancelling other journals.

You may suggest this resource to the Psychology library representative, as well to as the Criminology representative, for their consideration. A list of faculty representatives can be found here: http://www.lib.sfu.ca/help/liaison-librarians. Feel free as well to suggest this resource to any faculty members you work with for their recommendation to their library rep. I will also note it on my wish list for possible future consideration, should funds become available.

Best wishes,

Yolanda
