Replacement for Windows?

Q: I really don't like this new version of Windows. Can you install Ubuntu instead?  It would be really nice to be able to use Ubuntu here at school and not have to lug around my laptop to do it.

A: Thank you for your suggestion, but it is not possible at this time. We use the  Windows OS in concert with IT services and other departments on all campuses in order to provide a consistent experience and common platform amongst our lab PCs.

We simply don't have the staff to support multiple operating systems, nor does all our supported software run on different  operating systems.
