Reduction in Construction Noise?

Published by Dipa Barua
Your question or comment: Is there a possibility of the construction to cease during the last weeks of the semester? It is incredibly loud and distracting when sitting in the silent levels of the library and hearing hammering and drilling. Some of us rely heavily on this space during this time of the semester This is supposed to be a quiet area provided to students and this is the third semester we have had to put up with it.
Which library?  W.A.C.Bennett (SFU Burnaby)

A: I understand that the construction noise in the Library is very distracting, especially at this time of the semester, and I apologize.   University Facilities is renovating the Library washrooms, and last week I contacted the Project Manager to ask if further loud work could be delayed until after exams.  He will investigate options, but he does have to adhere to contract schedules.   I am confident he will do as much as he can to reduce the noise.  In the meantime, they are currently renovating the West washrooms, so the East side of the building should be quieter.
