Q. At the front desk of the library I encountered an unfriendly librarian with an awful attitude. I asked to renew a laptop I was using, but she insisted that I turn it off and return it first, instead of simply scanning the code. Another staff member helping me was super nice and kind, but this librarian was impatient and not very helpful.

A. I apologize for your unpleasant experience at the front counter last night. Our staff do try and maintain a pleasant professional attitude so I will follow up with those working last night to find out what was happening.

In regards to the laptop - the library policy is not to renew laptops. If we have 5 or more available for lending then the patron may request another laptop after returning the one they currently have checked out. This has been our policy for many years.
