Fruit flies and 4th floor outlets

Published by Dipa Barua

Q. I would like to sincerely ask that you consider rectifying the problem of fruit flies on the 6th floor study carrels. As you may know, fruit flies are harmful to us because they land on everything including toilet, trash can, etc., and therefore may transfer diseases by landing on our laptops, tumbler, etc. Landing on the opening of the coffee tumbler is the problem I have been experiencing and the problem of fruit flies has been left unresolved for far too long. Also, could you please consider putting power outlets on the 4th floor study carrels?

A. My apology for the fruit fly problem. Our cleaning contractor is aware of the problem and is trying to resolve the situation. I've been informed that the cleaning contractor will be installing fruit fly traps throughout the library and hopefully this will rectify the problem.

Thank you for your suggestion regarding power for the 4th floor study carrels. This is something we will definitely consider when planning for additional power in the building.
