Construction in and Around Library During Exam Time

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Please halt all construction of the library and immediate areas being heard in the library unless it is crucial to students' safety during exam period in the day time. The library is now 24 hours so they can do their ridiculously loud and jarring work at night when the majority of students are not studying. I am not paying thousands of dollars a semester to have my studying immensely disrupted, constantly, while I am studying for my exams in our university's library. Fix this immediately, it happens every semester and this is just unacceptable.

A: Thank you for your feedback.

We are so sorry to hear your studying was disrupted. Unfortunately we cannot stop all projects in or around the Library due to construction contracts and timelines, but we were unaware that they involved any loud work. It would be very helpful to know where the noise was coming from, so we can follow up with the project managers and explain that students are studying. In the meantime, the Library is large and while it might be loud in one area it will be quiet in others. If you haven't already done so, we suggest you try the north side of the building (away from Convocation Mall) and higher floors, for example the 6th floor.

Best regards,
