Media at Fraser Library (Surrey)

The New Media Collection at the Fraser Library (Surrey) includes thousands of DVDs, videos, sound recordings, and images.

 

Films

Films (DVDs, videos, etc.) can be borrowed for 3 days (undergraduates) and 1 week (graduates / faculty).

To find documentary and feature films, search for Movies (DVDs, videos, etc.) in the Library Catalogue by keyword, title, director, performer, or subject. Then, if you wish to view just the films available in the Surrey Media Collection, click on the "Modify Search" tab and select the location "SFU at Surrey Library." After locating your film you can watch DVDs - Videos on TVs or in the Screening Room. Most of the titles in the film collection are licensed for non-theatrical educational use (Public Performance Rights) at Simon Fraser University and may be booked for classroom viewing by SFU faculty, instructors and students.

To book a film, video or DVD for classroom viewing, faculty - TAs should contact media booking staff at: media@sfu.ca or use the online film booking form.

Media booking staff may be able to arrange previews or classroom bookings of titles not available at SFU Library. See the Film Bookings guide for more information on booking films for classroom use.

 

Sound Recordings

Sound Recordings can be borrowed for 3 days (undergraduates) and 1 week (graduates / faculty).

To find music or other sound recording CDs, search for Music, sound recordings in the Library Catalogue by keyword, title, performer, or subject. Then, if you wish to view just the sound recordings available in the Surrey Media Collection, click on the "Modify Search" tab and select the location "SFU at Surrey Library."

To find specific sound effects in the Library's collection of Sound Ideas CDs, use the Sound Ideas Sound Effects Library search engine.

You can also listen to CDs @ the listening stations.

Sound Ideas effects are available on the desktops of Surrey Library and lab workstations. Look for the "Sound Files" icon for access.
