The Gene Bridwell Graduate Scholarship in Special Collections Annual Award

  1. The purpose of this award is to attract and provide financial support to a student entering a Simon Fraser University graduate program or a graduate student enrolled at a university outside the Lower Mainland. The award is intended for a graduate student who shows evidence of scholarly interest or creative achievement related to the Simon Fraser University Contemporary Literature Collection.
  2. One (1) Gene Bridwell Graduate Scholarship in Special Collections valued at $1,000 will be awarded annually and is tenable in the Spring
    Semester.
  3. The criteria for this award are:

    a) minimum cumulative grade point average (c.g.p.a.) of 3.5 or other evidence of outstanding achievement
    b) full-time registration in a graduate program either at Simon Fraser University or another university outside the Lower Mainland
    c) demonstrated scholarly or creative interests in the Simon Fraser University Contemporary Literature Collection
  4. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  5. Application is made in writing directing to the Dean of Graduate Studies outlining suitability for this award and must be accompanied by

    a) copies of all post secondary transcripts
    b) a copy of the applicant's proposed outline of studies and relevance to the Simon Fraser University's Contemporary Literature Collection
    c) two (2) letters of reference from professors familiar with the applicant's work
    d) resume or curriculum vitae
  6. The application letter and all supporting documents must be received by the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies by October 15th.
  7. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies, on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
